ZineKit

Terms of Service

Effective July 31, 2026

Plain-language summary

  • You own the zines you make. We only get the rights we need to host, display, and print them for you.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically. Cancel anytime; your plan stays active until the end of the billing period, and we don't give partial-month refunds.
  • AI credits refresh monthly, unused included credits don't roll over, and credits have no cash value.
  • Print orders are made to order. Check your print-ready PDF carefully before ordering — once an order goes to the printer it can't be canceled. If the printer messes up, we'll reprint or refund.
  • Don't upload illegal content or content you don't have rights to.

This summary is for convenience only — the full terms below are what governs.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and ZineKit ("ZineKit," "we," "us") governing your use of the ZineKit website, editor, and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service (or at least 16 where local law requires a higher minimum age for consenting to online services, such as in parts of the European Union). If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. Purchases — subscriptions, AI credit top-ups, and print orders — may only be made by someone legally able to enter into a payment agreement.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for your account: keep your login credentials secure, keep your email address current, and tell us promptly at support@zinekit.com if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Provide accurate information when you sign up and when you place orders — for example, an accurate shipping address for print orders.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

Auto-renewal

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis and renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe; by subscribing you authorize us (through Stripe) to charge your payment method for each renewal at the then-current price for your plan.

Upgrades and downgrades

You can change plans at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated — you are charged the difference for the remainder of the current billing period. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing period; you keep your current plan's features until then.

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings or the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period: you keep paid features until then, and you will not be charged again. We do not provide refunds or credits for partial billing periods, except where required by law.

Price changes

If we change subscription prices, we will give you advance notice, and the new price will apply from your next renewal after the notice period. If you do not agree with a price change, cancel before it takes effect.

5. AI Credits

Paid plans include a monthly allowance of AI credits used for AI image generation and related AI features. Credits work like this:

  • Included credits refresh at the start of each billing period. Unused included credits do not roll over to the next period.
  • You may be able to purchase additional credit top-ups. Top-up credits are consumed after your included allowance.
  • Credits have no cash or monetary value, are not redeemable for cash, and are non-transferable between accounts.
  • Credits expire when your account is closed. We may adjust the credit cost of specific AI features as underlying provider costs change; material changes will be reflected in the app before you spend credits.

6. Print Orders

Made-to-order physical goods

Printed zines are physical goods produced on demand by a third-party print partner (currently Mixam). When you place a print order, we transmit your print-ready files, name, and shipping address to the printer so they can produce and ship your order.

You approve the file

Before ordering, you are shown a print-ready PDF of your zine. You are responsible for reviewing it — including spelling, layout, image quality, page order, bleed, and margins — before submitting your order. What you approve is what gets printed. We are not responsible for errors that were visible in the approved file.

No cancellation after submission

Because each order is custom-produced, orders cannot be canceled, changed, or refunded once they have been submitted to the printer. If you notice a problem immediately after ordering, contact us right away at support@zinekit.com — we will try to help, but we cannot guarantee an order can be stopped.

Misprints and defects

If your order arrives with a defect caused by production — for example misprinted pages, binding failures, or shipping damage — we will reprint it or refund it. See the refund policy below.

Color and trim variance

Printed colors can differ from what you see on screen: monitors display RGB light while printing uses CMYK ink, and results vary by paper stock and press. Minor variation in color, and trim variation of a few millimeters, are normal characteristics of commercial printing and are not defects.

7. Refund Policy

Subscriptions and credits

You can cancel a subscription at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods or for unused AI credits, except where required by law. Credit top-up purchases are non-refundable once any of the purchased credits have been used.

Print orders

If a print order is defective due to a production error, contact support@zinekit.com within 30 days of delivery with your order number and photos of the defect. We will arrange a reprint or a refund at our discretion. Issues caused by errors in the file you approved (typos, low-resolution images, layout mistakes) are not eligible.

8. Your Content and License to Us

You retain full ownership of the zines, images, audio, text, and other content you create or upload ("Your Content"). We claim no ownership of it.

To operate the Service, you grant ZineKit a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, process, and transmit Your Content solely as needed to provide the Service to you — including generating previews and print-ready files, sharing files with our print partner to fulfill your orders, sending your prompts and related inputs to AI providers when you use AI features, and creating backups. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for copies that exist in routine backups (which expire on their normal schedule) and copies already sent to a printer to fulfill an order you placed.

You represent that you have all rights needed to upload Your Content and to grant this license — including rights to any third-party material (photos, artwork, fonts, music) contained in it.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to create, upload, print, or distribute content that:

  • is illegal or promotes illegal activity;
  • infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual-property or privacy rights;
  • sexualizes or exploits minors in any way — including any child sexual abuse material (CSAM), which we will remove and report to the relevant authorities;
  • harasses, threatens, defames, or incites violence against any person or group.

You also agree not to abuse the Service itself — for example by attempting to bypass usage limits or access controls, scraping other users' content, reselling the Service, or interfering with its operation. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate this section.

10. Copyright Complaints (DMCA)

We respond to copyright takedown notices consistent with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to support@zinekit.com including: (a) identification of the copyrighted work; (b) identification and location (URL) of the allegedly infringing material; (c) your contact information; (d) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; (e) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and (f) your physical or electronic signature. We may remove the identified material and, for repeat infringers, terminate accounts. If your content is removed and you believe it was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice to the same address.

11. AI-Generated Content

AI features are powered by third-party models. Because these models generate outputs from patterns in training data, outputs may not be unique — other users may receive the same or similar outputs from similar prompts. Subject to the terms of the underlying AI providers and applicable law, we do not claim ownership of AI outputs you generate; you are responsible for how you use them, including verifying that your use does not infringe third-party rights and complies with law. AI outputs can be inaccurate or unexpected — review them before publishing or printing.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service (in which case we will give reasonable notice where feasible so you can export your work). On termination, your license from us ends and we may delete Your Content after a reasonable period; sections that by their nature should survive (including licenses needed to complete in-flight print orders, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) survive termination.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that your content will never be lost — keep your own backups of important work.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ZineKit will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to the Service. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim (or, if you have paid nothing, USD $50). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your State/Country — confirm with counsel], without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be resolved in the courts located there, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring claims in your local courts.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes we will give notice — for example by email or an in-app notice — before the changes take effect. The "Effective" date above shows when the current version took effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
